Dear Dr. Mapes:

Thank you for your support during the 2011/2012 school year. We trust that the new school year will get off to a good start. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. The event will take place on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 7:30 P.M., in the High School auditorium. Please save the date. Attached, for your approval, is our annual announcement letter to all principals.

The theme for the 2013 celebration is “_TBD_”. The elementary schools scheduled to perform are _TBD_.

We anticipate the continued participation of the Baldwin Middle School Steppers, the Baldwin Middle School Social Studies Spoken Word Club, and the Baldwin High School Step Team. We look forward to other performances from the Middle and High School students, as well. The rehearsal dates are set for Wednesday, January 9 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Saturday, January 12 from 12:00 NOON to 3:00 P.M., at the High School.

We are requesting that each school design their performance around the theme. One of our main goals is to involve as many students as possible to share their live performances with the community. As usual, the artwork of the poster contest participants will be on display in the high school cafeteria, on the night of the performance. Following the program, refreshments will be served.

Thank you for your consideration. If there are any questions, I may be reached at 867-4961. We look forward to seeing you at future meetings and at the celebration.

Re:   Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration and Poster Contest

Greetings from the Concerned Parents of Baldwin. We trust that the 2012/2013 school year will get off to a good start. Our annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King is scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2011 at 7:30 P.M., in the Baldwin High School Auditorium. Please save the date.

The celebration theme for 2013 is “_To Be Announced_”. The elementary schools scheduled to perform are _To Be Announced_. We look forward to performances from the Middle and High School students, as well. We are requesting that each school design their performance around this year’s theme. One of our main goals is to involve as many students as possible to share their live performances with the community.  The rehearsal dates are set for Wednesday, January 9 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Saturday, January 12 from 12:00 NOON to 3:00 P.M., at the High School.

As usual, a poster contest for all Grade 4 Baldwin students, is planned in collaboration with our Dr. Martin Luther King celebration.  We strongly encourage the art teachers to use the theme as the controlling idea for their students’ artwork. On the night of the program (January 17) the art work will be displayed in the cafeteria at the High School. The Poster Contest Reception will be on Thursday, January 31 at 3:30 P.M at the District Office.

Thank you for your past and present cooperation. We look forward to a successful celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Sincerely,

Marie Y. Schroeder
